Teens charged with vandalizing Atlanta high school

Two 17-year-old males are accused of breaking into and attempting to set Mays High School on fire Saturday around 9 p.m. The males are students at the high school.

Christopher Boone and Brandan Dennard are charged with burglary, arson and criminal damage.

According to the police report, obtained by the AJC Tuesday, officers arrived on the scene after a female walking in the area notified police of five suspects busting out a classroom window.

When police arrived, they found the broken window near the rear of the building. Once inside, police spotted Boone and Dennard walking in the school hallways. The suspects fled on foot, but police shortly apprehended them.

Upon further search of the building, police saw a small fire inside the school's band room and called the Atlanta Fire Department. The carpet, wall and ceiling all sustained fire damage.

A police search of the suspects uncovered a bottle of lighter fluid in Dennard's bookbag, authorities said. Two lighters, several cellphones and a cellphone charger were discovered in Boone's book bag, police said.

The other suspects were not found.
