Update: Atlanta (DeKalb)
In February, we told you about Fred Pollard’s issue with a road hazard.
“A steel plate has been a road hazard in front of 785 Clifton Rd., Atlanta, for at least two years. It has been there for so long that lane lines have been painted on it. What is DeKalb county’s policy on leaving steel plates in roads?” Pollard asked.
We got an update from DeKalb officials.
“The DeKalb County Roads and Drainage department has scheduled the repair and work should be completed within 60 days. I will be sure to send an update when the repairs are completed,” wrote a DeKalb County spokesperson.

Shawn Sorsdahl has an issue with a pothole-laden freeway. Sorsdahl said the area on I-285 west/south, heading toward the airport from the Memorial Drive area just at the off ramp to Flat Shoals Road, is a mess.
“The two right lanes, not the exit lanes but the two right travel lanes have pretty good potholes in them. This area was just resurfaced during the construction and I-285 resurface project. The potholes have opened up since then and have gotten bigger as time goes on,” Sorsdahl said.
“I wrote to GDOT about this issue and was told ‘this area is still under construction.’ It is not. This area is done. It was part of the I-285 resurface project that is going on, but this area has been finished for a while now,” Sorsdahl added.

A reader appreciates the recent paving of Ga. Highway 54, but is still concerned about a troublesome traffic light on a stretch of road in Peachtree City. The traffic light is located at North Lake Drive and takes forever to turn, said the reader. He hopes that DOT can adjust the light to make traffic flow easier. We sent his concern to the DOT and will keep you updated.
