“You have seen this a thousand times. Someone digs a hole in the street, fixes a pipe, puts a plate over it, and acts like the job is finished. These are especially hazardous for cyclists. Why has this become the norm in the metro area? This one is on North Amanda Circle at LaVista Road a year after the work began, despite many calls,” he wrote.
We sent the item to DeKalb County to see if the issue could be addressed.

Heleen Berry hopes a problem that has been around for a while can soon be rectified.
“There is a problem at the end of the dead end street on Rogeretta Drive in DeKalb County. A tree from a neighbor’s back yard fell during a hurricane and the top-end branches block part of the already small turn-around. Cars coming to the end of the street have little option but to back out, and have been side scraping the cars that are parked in the area. This is especially a problem at night when visibility is lessened and everyone’s cars are at home,” she wrote.
Berry said she has called DeKalb County Road and Drainage multiple times.
“Each time it is as if it had never been reported, and a promise to take care of it within a week. Yet the problem still remains and car repairs are adding up.”

Item: Woodstock (Cherokee)
A reader has an issue with a busy state highway in Woodstock.
“Hwy. 92 in Woodstock has a number of intersections that now use a blinking yellow light for the turn lane which has helped the flow of traffic. At the intersection of Wigley Road and Hwy. 92, there is a serious situation that could become a deadly situation if not addressed,” wrote Debbie McKeen.
She said the intersection is used by many motorists for a U-turn as residents that need to travel east have only a westward exit from their subdivisons and neighborhoods.
"The problem is when a resident tries to perform a U-turn, the drivers coming from Wigley Road make a right-hand turn without stopping or yielding to the drivers on Hwy. 92. This causes the driver on Hwy. 92 to stop – in mid turn – leaving themselves exposed to a possible collision by the cars traveling eastbound on Hwy. 92. We simply ask that a "No Right Turn on Red" sign be installed on Wigley before an accident occurs," she said.
We sent the item to the DOT and got a quick response.
“Regarding the intersection of State Route 92 and Wigley Road in Woodstock, the “No Right Turn on Red” sign that was requested to be installed on Wigley Road would not be appropriate because the right turn lane operates under a yield condition,” said DOT spokesman Natalie Dale.
