New item -Interstate 85

Clay Parnell is tired of a longer commute.

“My normal 25 minute drive in the evening (9 p.m.) from the airport to Lenox area took two hours last week. The culprit? Repaving on the connector, of course. All lanes down to…one lane. Seriously,” he wrote.

Parnell wants to know why the DOT is repaving that section of the road.

“The condition of the road is excellent, very little wear, and no potholes. Compare that with, as example, very heavily travelled roads in Midtown, particularly 10th St and Howell Mill, which are worse than some third world roads I’ve driven on, with potholes that can swallow a smart car in the blink of an eye,” he added.

We sent the issue to the DOT and will let you know what happens.

New item-Chamblee

A reader has a problem with traffic flow in Chamblee.

“I’ve lived in Chamblee for 35 years and my perceived problem has always been there … going north on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard approaching Interstate 285. The two right lanes are confusing for those not familiar with the area. Due to lack of proper signage, people see 285 ahead and assume the right lane is what they need to enter .Wrong, it veers onto the access road,” the reader wrote.

The reader suggests a couple of strategically placed signs could help many frustrated drivers along their way and make traffic flow a lot better.

We sent the issue to DeKalb County and will let you know when it is addressed.

New item-DeKalb County

A reader is concerned over the state of Northlake Parkway.

“At the intersection of Northlake Parkway and LaVista Road, going south towards Target, the middle lane has been extremely rough for quite some time. Is there any chance that it can be repaved to smooth it out? I have seen many drivers trying to straddle the rough road to no avail,” the reader wrote.

We sent the item to the county and will let you know when it is fixed.
