Fixed! Atlanta

In mid-October, we told you about a reader’s frustration with a metal cover on Piedmont Avenue that thousands of people drive over every day.

“I have been driving over this cover for well over a year. Now it is starting to move and I would hate to see someone get stuck in the hole. The metal cover was placed over a hole in the road where some work was being done. The cover has been there a long time. Is there anything that can be done to remove the cover and fix the hole? It is located on Piedmont Avenue near the intersection of 10th Street, rght in front of Campagnolo restaurant,” wrote Margaret Tinsley.

We learned the problem had been addressed.

“Repairs to the location indicated in the reader inquiry have been completed. The plate has been removed and the street restored. For any service related issues, please encourage your reader to call 311 customer service line,” wrote the city’s press information officer Christina Cruz-Benton.

Kirby Smith wants something done about a distressed storm drain that he says could pose an imminent danger for residents and visitors

“There is a storm drain grate broken at 668 Linwood Ave. NE., Atlanta. This section of Linwood Avenue was repaved a year ago at which time they broke this grate and it remains a danger to children, bikes and pedestrians,” Smith wrote.

Ed Ramsey wants something done about a traffic light at Briarcliff Road and Chrysler Drive that is way out of synch with the traffic flow in the area. Ramsey hopes that a quick fix can be found soon.

“This light has been set as a demand type light in the past, but for some reason it now takes it 45 seconds no matter if there is traffic or not. Once a car gets to Briarcliff on Chrysler it will take 45 seconds with no traffic coming down Briarcliff. It may not seem long to some, but it would be much better if it could be changed back to a demand light,” Ramsey wrote.

We sent the item to the county and will keep you posted.
