New item-DeKalb County

Robert Elrod hopes something can be done about a troublesome traffic light.

“Beginning three months ago, I reported a traffic light malfunction at Maple Street and North Avondale Road. The loop is malfunctioning which sets the light to change even when there are no cars waiting on Maple. I was told one month ago that there were 30 lights on the fix list for DeKalb and that intersection was on the list. A month later, the light remains broken,” said Elrod.

Elrod said since he made the original call, he noticed the light at Oak Street and North Avondale Road is also experiencing the same problem.

We sent the issue to DeKalb County and will keep you updated on the situation.

New item-Gwinnett County

A reader wants something done about an on-ramp before a tragic highway collision occurs.

“Amid the newer construction at the Ga. Highway 20/Ga.Highway 316 intersection in Gwinnett County, the on-ramp from Ga. Highway 20 starts off as two lanes, and then, right before it ends, merges into a single lane. There are a multitude of signs warning of the reduction to one lane. However, just as the two ramp lanes merge into one, you get a single sign advising that you are to ‘merge’ into 316 traffic,” the reader wrote. We sent the information to the DOT and will tell you when it’s fixed.

Fixed! DeKalb County

In late March, we told you about Mike North’s concern over a hole in the street.

“At least three months ago, there was a water leak under the street. The water department came out and fixed the leak and a day or two later a work crew came out to plant the grass and do a final clean up. The truck they were driving dropped through the asphalt creating this hole,” he wrote.

North said he’s contacted leaders in the government and have been told they would pass the info along to someone else, but nothing has happened.

“We still have this ugly hole.”

Decals County officials said the item was fixed and sent a pic to show us the improvements.
