When a Grady Memorial Hospital ambulance crew arrived in Buckhead early Saturday to treat an intoxicated man found lying in the street, little did they know they would end up on a wild ride.

Atlanta police say a friend of the drunken man hopped behind the wheel of the ambulance and drove away while the emergency medical technicians tended to the drunken man in the back.

The driver allegedly struck a pedestrian who was on the sidewalk as he left the roadway while turning onto Roswell Road. The identity of the pedestrian who was hurt was not available, but police say the pedestrian was in stable condition.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. Saturday after an off-duty police officer called the ambulance to the scene on East Andrews Drive.

Atlanta police spokesman Officer John Chafee said the EMT crew persuaded the driver to pull over.

“The suspect pulled over at Roswell Rd and Wieuca Rd and was taken into custody with the assistance of the Georgia State Patrol,” Chafee said in a statement.

The suspect, Jordan Scott Moore, 26, faces multiple charges,  including kidnapping, interference with government property, theft by taking, hit and run, failure to render aid and reckless driving.
