City Schools Decatur’s Secondary Education Director Lauri McKain resigned last month to take a position with the Southern Regional Education Board. But Superintendent Phyllis Edwards admitted recently she still isn’t sure when or if she’ll name a replacement.

“More than likely I will post [the job opening],” Edwards said. “But I need to look carefully at the position and also at our budget.” McKain, Decatur High principal from 2006 until last May, became one of Edwards’ top two associates in a last year’s reorganization of the central office.
