SunTrust employee shot in bank robbery

Two armed men wearing wigs burst into a DeKalb County  SunTrust and left with a sack of cash -- but not before shooting one of the employees in the leg, DeKalb County police said.

"It was a kind of ‘takeover' style robbery; they were in and out in under two minutes," DeKalb County police spokesman Jason Gagnon said.

The men went into the SunTrust at the Embry Hills Shopping Center just before 10:30 a.m., showed their guns and demanded money, Gagnon said.

When they became frustrated with the amount of time bank employees were taking, one of the men fired his gun, Gagnon said. The bullet struck one of the SunTrust employees in the leg, Gagnon said.

The man was taken to DeKalb Medical Center and is in serious condition, Gagnon said.

The two men ditched their wigs and clothes and left in a dark blue newer model minivan, Gagnon said.

One of the men had "distinct" facial hair, and both were wearing baseball caps, he said.

Police are reviewing surveillance tape.

The incident has been turned over to the FBI, Gagnon said.
