The Stockbridge City Council voted unanimously at its April 28 workshop meeting to approve a resolution in support of the Coronavirus Community Relief Act, a bill currently in Congress that would provide $250 billion for certain localities impacted by COVID-19. Specifically, it would provide funding for units of local government with a population of 500,000 or fewer, with the amount of payment proportional to population. It would only cover costs that are necessary and associated with the public health emergency, according to U.S. Congress website.
Mayor Anthony Ford submitted a letter to U.S. Rep. David Scott asking him to support the action, which as of May 6 had been referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Reform.
