The Stockbridge City Council voted at its March 26 workshop meeting to adopt a new policy for the use of the Merle Manders Conference Center regarding City Council members, city employees and nonprofit organizations.

City employees can receive a 25 percent discount once a year for use of any city meeting space for wedding receptions, birthdays, parties, family reunions, banquets and other similar functions. Nonprofit groups can qualify for a 20 percent discount form the regular rental rates. Each council member is allowed to use the facility for a council initiative once a year on a weekend and once a year on a week day.

With council approval, additional council initiatives can be scheduled at the Ted Strickland Center. Rents collected, including rents from city functions, are put into the revenue account of the enterprise fund which is used to maintain the meeting spaces.
