The Lawrenceville City Council approved $4,590 Monday for installation of two speed humps on Collins Industrial Way from Collins Hill Road to University Center Lane. The speed limit will also be reduced to 25 mph in the area.
Gwinnett County and Lawrenceville staff met on site at the request of Merri Brantley from Georgia Gwinnett College to review the need for speed control on this section of Collins Industrial Way. In documents provided to the county, Brantley expressed concern for student safety as pedestrians walk across Collins Industrial Way between the old Buick dealership and the GGC Fitness Center.
As a result, Gwinnett County DOT performed a speed study on both sections of Collins which indicated the need for traffic calming efforts.
