The Snellville City Council recently voted to waive a first public hearing and final decision to amend the city’s zoning map and approval of a permit and variances to allow for the construction and operation of an automotive repair shop on a little over one acre at 2001 E. Main St.

The property owner wants to operate a flower shop in the existing building on the property and an auto repair shop including major engine repair (transmission, radiator repair and engine overhauls) in a proposed new building that would be built behind the existing building.

Prior to a vote on the motion to move the next hearing to the March 23 council meeting, Mayor Pro Tem Dave Emanuel made a motion to include a mandate to address tree issues on the property by submitting a new tree planting plan that would require mayor and council approval before further zoning action.
