UPDATE: The closed lane reopened late Thursday afternoon. The repair is complete, but GDOT will be back out to adjust some drainage issues next week.

ORIGINAL STORY: A sinkhole has opened up next to one that was repaired earlier this month in Roswell.

The cavity emerged in the shoulder area of Atlanta Street/State Route 9 between Oak Street and Oxbo Road.

City officials said drivers should expect delays and avoid the area, if possible.

The right-hand southbound lane is closed. The left-hand southbound lane and both northbound lanes are open.

The Georgia Department of Transportation will evaluate the situation. The time it will take to repair the sinkhole is unknown, the city said.
