The Henry County Board of Education voted at its June 11 regular meeting to adopt new student handbooks and will mostly distribute them electronically, saving the district about $70,000.

The handbook issue was taken off the consent agenda and voted on separately after some discussion. During the study session there was some question as to whether the vote on the matter would be delayed, which officials said would push the adoption of the handbooks right up to the start of the new school year and might lead to some additional costs. District staff members, students and parents who need printed copies of handbooks will have them made available. Electronic copies will be available for download from the district’s website.

School calendars for 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 were also approved as part of the consent agenda.
