Dual roundabouts for Johnson Ferry Road and Mount Vernon Highway, the construction of Perimeter trails and right-of-way acquisition for future high-capacity transit for the Perimeter Community Improvement District are among the highlights of a transportation projects list approved by the Sandy Springs City Council.
The projects would be funded if voters approve a 0.75-cent Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax in November. The vote is for all of Fulton County outside the city of Atlanta.
If the referendum passes, Sandy Springs, Fulton’s largest city after Atlanta, is projected to receive $101.4 million over the five-year life of the TSPLOST, the most of any city in the referendum.
The projects list also calls for filling gaps in the city’s sidewalk network, various intersection improvements, and design work on a four-lane Hammond Drive proposal. The list now goes to Fulton County to be combined with those of other communities.
