The Rotary Club of Peachtree City commemorated the 60th anniversary of the city’s founding at a special meeting on Feb. 28 at the Peachtree City Conference Center.

Mayor Vanessa Fleisch, former mayor Chip Connor, members of the City Council and other longtime residents attended. Local historian and author Rebecca Watts, who worked at the Peachtree City Library for two decades, narrated a visual retrospective of the city’s establishment by Floy Farr and Joel Cowan; Cowan was Peachtree City’s first mayor from 1959 to 1965.

The city will host a free public celebration of the anniversary from 2 to 9 p.m. on March 9 at Drake Field next to City Hall; details are at www.peachtree-city.org.
