Roswell has announced a two-week closure starting July 9 of the intersection of Hardscrabble and Chaffin roads, a decision officials said would help shorten construction of the Hardscrabble Green Loop by four to five months.

A contractor will construct a roundabout at Hardscrabble and Chaffin during the closure, officials said. Detour routes will include Etris Road, Crabapple Road, Ga. 92/West Crossville Road, and King Road. Local residents will have access to the area.

Signage alerting drivers to the impending closure and detours will appear about two weeks before July 9.

The Hardscrabble Green Loop, to be finished in the spring/summer of 2019, will be a “complete street” with intersection improvements, sidewalks, bike lanes and a multi-use trail. Bicyclists and pedestrians will be able to use both sides of the Hardscrabble Road Corridor, part of a larger bike and pedestrian system called the Roswell Loop.

The $5.8 million project is funded jointly by Roswell and the Georgia Department of Transportation. Information: https://bit.ly/2My9fFe
