Roswell sets fall session, Citizens’ Police Academy

The Roswell Citizens’ Police Academy, a free program available to Roswell residents and business owners, will meet once a week for 10 weeks beginning Thursday evening, Sept. 5. AJC FILE

The Roswell Police Department is accepting applications for the Citizens’ Police Academy, a free program that goes for 10 weeks and introduces members of the public to police work.

The academy meets from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays beginning Sept. 5 at the police department, 39 Hill St., according to a city announcement. Topics include police operations, the K9 unit and SWAT team, DUI enforcement, 911 communications, the detention center and how crimes are investigated.

Those who complete the course can take part in a graduation ceremony and reception Thursday, Nov. 7.

Applicants must be a Roswell resident or business owner, 21 years of age or older, and pass a background check. Applications can be picked up at the police department from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or downloaded at: https://bit.ly/2yVZ73D
