The Roswell City Council has awarded a $42,160 contract to a consultant to update its strategic plan for Alpharetta Highway (Ga. 9), a key main north-to-south thoroughfare through the North Fulton community.

RKG Associates, one of four consultants that responded to the city’s request for proposals, will update the 2007 Economic Development Analysis and Redevelopment Strategy Plan for the corridor. It extends from Mansell Road on the north to the Chattahoochee River on the south and includes the Roswell Historic District.

“The updated plan will include an expanded study area in order to assist the city in understanding current market potential for redevelopment in the Highway 9/Alpharetta Highway corridor,” according to a staff report to the mayor and Council.

RKG is knowledgeable about Roswell; it created the city’s first Strategic Economic Development Plan and is now working with Roswell Inc., the economic development agency, to update it, staff said. It also is innovative in its public outreach and has “good ideas about how to integrate social media into the process of obtaining participating and feedback from citizens and stakeholders,” staff said.
