The Roswell Fire Department has purchased 108 “Stop the Bleed” trauma bags, and the city is putting many of them in public places where bystanders could use them to save people’s lives.
Roswell is placing the bags with every city-owned automated external defibrillator (AED), officials said. The city has 48 stationary AEDs in city buildings and 60 mobile AEDs assigned to police and fire department vehicles.
“Stop the Bleed” bags allow anyone to provide immediate care to injured persons.
“If bleeding is severe, it can kill within minutes, potentially before trained responders can arrive,” the city said. “Research has shown that bystanders, with little or no medical training, can become heroic lifesavers.”
Each bleeding kit contains a tourniquet, wound-packing materials, gloves and illustrated instructions. Information: https://bit.ly/2SaxEDm
