At Midway Meal House in south Forsyth County, several prepared salads made with mayonnaise were at unsafe temperatures.
Tuna salad, potato salad and chicken salad were all discarded after the Forsyth County inspector measured the food temperatures between 49 degrees and 50 degrees. The salads were in the top compartment of a prep cooler. Cheese and hard boiled eggs were also above the safe temperature maximum of 41 degrees and were thrown away.
Midway Meal House, 5150 Highway 9, Alpharetta, failed the routine inspection with a 55/U. Previous scores were 77/C and 90/A.
In other code violations, employees’ personal belongings and medicines were stored among food items.
The inspector found Advil on the prep table and Pepto-Bismol in the refrigerator. There were shoes, jackets, eye glasses and papers and mail stored throughout the kitchen next to the food, on food contact surfaces and on top of dry bulk food.
The inspector recommended designating an area away from the kitchen for employees to put their personal items.
Points were also taken off because raw meat was stored next to ready-to-eat food in the walk-in cooler. Dining tables were not being cleaned and sanitized properly. And equipment surfaces, and floors underneath the equipment, were dirty with food debris, dirt and grease, the inspector said.
Midway Meal House will be re-inspected. [Editor's note: Midway Meal House passed the follow-up inspection with an 88/B.]

Other restaurants bringing up their health scores include: Dog Days, 6025 Peachtree Parkway, Norcross, 99/A; Waffle House, 1727 Hudson Bridge Road, Stockbridge, 97/A.
