Starting July 8, stormwater-related road repairs will close Dogwood Trail to through traffic between Ga. Hwy. 74 and Tyrone Road along the Tyrone-Peachtree City border. Fayette County and the town of Tyrone are replacing stormwater pipes over Flat Creek and a nearby tributary. The two projects are being done simultaneously to lessen the impact on surrounding residents. Weather permitting, the construction is scheduled to be finished by December and the road will reopen then. The detour route for residents will run along 2.8 miles of Tyrone Road and 1.7 miles of Ga. Hwy. 74. The replacement of the rusted culvert pipes is project #315 on the 2017 SPLOST list, and will cost approximately $600,000. More information is at www.fayettecountyga.gov.
