1. I-85 lanes will open way ahead of schedule. It was announced mid-week that I-85 will reopen in time for Monday's morning rush hour commute, and probably sooner. And now it appears the bridge could reopen as early as Friday tonight. [Read here.]

2. Morris Brown College announced that Chris Tucker will receive an honorary degree at its commencement. The actor, who hails from DeKalb County, will be given an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts at the upcoming commencement ceremony. Honorary degrees will also be given to six other people. [Read here.]

3. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution learned that the Georgia guy lauded as a superhero teacher isn't really a teacherThe man, who represented himself as a fifth grade Atlanta teacher, isn't what he says. [Read here.]

4. Crime Stoppers increased the reward amount for tips in an attack on a California man visiting Atlanta. Mark Calub, one of three men viciously attacked on Edgewood Avenue in April, was in critical condition this week. The reward amount for tips that lead to the arrest of the unidentified suspects has been increased by thousands of dollars. [Read here.]

5. A Milwaukee bank's failure over the weekend resulted in the closing of 34 Georgia branches in Kroger and Walmart stores. Most of the closed BestBank branches in Georgia were in metro Atlanta.

6. Grant Park Conservancy explained why an Atlanta barbecue and music festival has been postponed indefinitelyAfter a two-year run, the Pick'n In Grant Park BBQ & Music Festival will not happen this year. Grant Park Conservancy's executive director, Michelle Blackmon, said Monday that the group wanted to try something a little different this year. [Read here.]

7. We got to see what the under-construction Georgia State Stadium looks like nowGeorgia State University revealed Wednesday a glimpse of what the former Turner Field stadium looks like at this point in construction. It will initially have seating for 23,000 but a future phase should add another 10,000 seats, according to a Georgia State website. [Read here.]
