The weather should be mostly dry Wednesday, but Thursday will likely be a rainy day, and forecasters are predicting temperatures in the 40s by the weekend.
Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said a few sprinkles were falling before daybreak Wednesday in Walker County in the northwest corner of the state, but the bulk of the approaching rain was still in western Tennessee and Arkansas.
That rain will drift closer to metro Atlanta by the early-morning hours Thursday, leading to a wet morning commute, Minton said.
“Lunch time, you’re grabbing a sandwich with an umbrella in your hand, and by the afternoon rush hour, the showers are still here,” she said.
The rain should clear out for Friday, but a few showers could return Saturday, according to Minton. She said the chance of rain is 60 percent Thursday and 40 percent Saturday.
Afternoon highs will be in the 70s through Friday and in the upper 60s Saturday and Sunday.
Morning lows will be in the mid-60s Thursday, mid-50s Friday and Saturday and upper 40s Sunday, Minton predicted.
