Fayette County has set the qualifying fees required to run for office during the 2020 elections.

The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the measure at its Jan. 9 meeting. Those running for Board of Education districts 1, 3 and 5 must pay $306, and candidates for county commission districts 1, 2 and 5 will be charged $625.01. The fees for the clerk of the superior court and for probate court judge will each be $2,173.01; for solicitor general of the state court, $3,712.62; sheriff, $2,424.59; tax commissioner, $2,173.02; coroner, $244.50; and magistrate judge, $530.31.

The qualifying period for the 2020 general election will begin at 9 a.m. March 2 and end at noon on March 6; further details will be released by the county soon.
