The McDonough City Council voted at its Feb. 6 regular meeting to approve the following expenditures: $150,000 from SPLOST funds for the renovation of the basement of the Polk Museum; $26,245 from the general fund for the purchase of software for the city’s camera equipment; $15,464.25 payable from impact fees for six indoor/outdoor card readers at the Boots Welch Police Precinct; and $11,800 from the general fund for the purchase of a new HVAC system for the data center at City Hall.

Also approved was a contract with Smart Bill to print and email the city’s monthly water/sanitation bills to customers who would like them sent electronically. The initial $1,000 setup cost to the city will be offset by the future savings of 41 cents for every participating customer’s monthly bill in addition to the savings of time, postage and paper, according to city officials.
