Construction for the new East Point City Hall is in full swing. The city entered into a lease-purchase agreement with the Georgia Municipal Association that will span 20 years to replace the former Council Chambers.

Jefferson Station cost the city nearly half a million dollars annually to rent, and the city held no control over the functionality of the building. The new space is expected to be complete sometime this fall or early winter.

The old City Hall building, auditorium and library will not be demolished. They will remain on the adjoined site with the new City Hall, and will continue to be rented out. The portion of West Cleveland Avenue that once ran between government offices and the Law Enforcement Center will now be closed to make way for the new City Hall.
