A girls high school soccer game was tied just before halftime when the unimaginable happened.

A group of super heroes took the field. Four Power Rangers, Spider-Man and a ninja raced across the soccer field in White County, the Gainesville Times reported.

So who were those masked men? Students at a local college, according to the White County Sheriff's Office.

The six costumed students and two others were arrested Tuesday night for the prank at the White County vs. Gainesville game. They are charged with disrupting or interfering with a school function. All eight are members of the Truett McConnell College cross-country team, according to a roster on the college's website.

"We were all young ... you throw a can at a sign or you knock a mailbox over," Capt. Jim Couch told the newspaper. "But when you do something like this and you're [that] old and you disrupt a ballgame, that's just not right."

The costumed suspects jumped over a fence, ran across the soccer field and approached Gainesville's goalkeeper, paused to exchange a proposal, then kept running, according to deputy and witness reports.

Those arrested included Josh Kesler and Kevin Kesler of Nicholson, Josh Stanley of Duluth, Wade Scott of Canon, Branson Sanders of Cornelia and Christopher Parks of Commerce, according to the report. Jessica Porter of Gainesville and Ashley Kirkman of Lilburn were also arrested for their roles in dropping off and attempting to pick up the mischievous heroes in Porter's white Jeep Liberty, deputies said.

All of the suspects were between ages 18 and 22, according to reports.

Spider-Man was reportedly still in his costume when he was placed under arrest.

(Editor's note: We're guessing they would've gotten away with it if not for those meddling soccer players.)
