Powder Springs may vote Feb. 16 on new police chief

A new police chief for Powder Springs is expected to be recommended for approval to the city council on Feb. 16, Interim City Manager Pam Conner said during Monday night’s city council meeting.

He will be chosen from two city police officials who have applied for that position - John Robison, the interim police chief, and Lt. Michael Cochran, Conner said.

Both men have been interviewed by a panel, consisting of the city’s Human Resources Director Rosalyn Nealy, Mayor Patricia Vaughn, Marietta Police Chief Dan Flynn and Conner.

The recommendation will come from Conner.

The city’s previous Police Chief Charlie Sewell retired on Dec. 31 after serving in law enforcement for 42 years.
