Post office customers in Peachtree City have been warned by the police department not to use the drive-up box in the parking lot due to reports of mail being stolen from it.

The city issued a warning last week telling patrons “do not, stop, don’t do it, halt, blockade, cease, discontinue, freeze, terminate, placing any mail you don’t want stolen from the big blue mail box” after numerous reported incidents over the past year, including recently. The department says it has “every confidence that the United States Postal Inspectors are diligently pursuing the miscreants responsible,” but no further updates have been made. A police spokesperson said there have not been any reports of thefts from similar outdoor mailboxes in the city.

The post office has not posted any warnings at the site or blocked off the box in question. Patrons can continue to deposit mail inside the lobby.
