A developer’s request to rezone 8 acres to build age-restricted cottages in downtown Fayetteville has been withdrawn.

The matter was on the agenda for a second public hearing at the Feb. 20 Fayetteville City Council meeting, but community development director David Rast announced that the applicant, OneStreet Residential, had withdrawn. The stated plan was to build 63 single-family rental cottages for adults over age 55 on the northeast corner of W. Lanier Avenue at Campaign Trail, adjacent to another 125-unit, age-restricted apartment complex called HearthSide Club Lafayette. The cottage development site plan had already been revised based on input from Fayetteville’s council, staff, and planning and zoning commission.

Rast said the developer would have to resubmit a new application for any future rezoning to be considered.
