Peachtree City Mayor Vanessa Fleisch announced an executive order that will close more public areas and limit business operations to help contain the spread of COVID-19. The order will remain in effect until the mayor or City Council announce an end date; the full text and video are at www.peachtree-city.org.

The order closes all city parks and playgrounds (including Drake Field and Spyglass Island), but the multi-use paths will remain open as long as no more than 10 people gather in any one spot. Fleisch said restrictions on business operations, including restaurants and gyms, are that no more than 10 people can be in one location at a time and must stay at least 6 feet apart; however, bars must close altogether. Faith-related gatherings such as worship services and funerals are limited to 10 people.

Fleisch strongly encouraged city residents to stay home between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. and to use curbside pickup services whenever possible. Noting that “rumors are not helpful,” she said official updates will be posted on the city’s website and social media to keep the public informed.
