The Norcross city council recently agreed to recommendations by the police department to improve two-way traffic flow on College Street between Holcomb Bridge Road and Jones Street.
Previously, cars have been allowed to park on both sides of the roadway leaving at times only about 17 feet between vehicles. Norcross police have seen cars backing up on the street when opposing traffic is encountered.
Of equal concern, Gwinnett Fire Department trucks need at least 18 feet to park and extend their stabilizer legs if needed for an emergency.
Based on recommendations by the police department and traffic engineers, the city will solve the problem by preventing parking on the north side of College Street between Holcomb Bridge Road and Jones Street.
