President Barack Obama visited Atlanta on Tuesday to attend fundraisers for his re-election campaign, his second visit this year. After lunching at the Varisty and raising funds at the Westin Peachtree-Plaza, Obama left Atlanta for south Florida later in the day.
3:12 p.m.: Obama arrives on the tarmac at Hartsfield-Jackson just before 3 p.m. Air Force One is airborne by 3:12 p.m., heading for Miami.
2:49 p.m.: Obama heading back to Hartsfield-Jackson for his flight to Miami.
2:25 p.m.: Following a reception with about 500 supporters, Obama met for a private roundtable discussion with about 20 people at the hotel. Tickets for the reception started at $500, with limited "Gen44" youth campaigner tickets priced at $250. The private roundtable tickets cost $35,000. Gen44 is the Obama campaign's official under-40 fundraising program. The president leaves Atlanta after the roundtable with a scheduled 3:30 departure. He'll then fly to Miami for more fundraising.
1:34 p.m.: Obama finishes speaking at the Westin Peachtree Plaza and is now working the crowd.
1:09 p.m.: Obama, speaking at the Westin Peachtree Plaza about jobs and the economy, "We've got more work to do."
12:14 p.m.: Obama arrives at the Westin Peachtree Plaza for a fundraiser. He stepped out of the presidential limousine on Peachtree and walked into the hotel.
12:05 p.m.: Obama steps up to the counter at the Varsity and orders five chili dogs, four naked dogs and one hamburger.
12:00: Obama arrives at the Varsity, tells AJC, "I'm excited to get a hot dog. I hear they are really good here."
11:50 a.m.: About 30 people are sitting at the Varsity, waiting to see Obama during his visit to Atlanta. Most had no idea he was coming. "I was coming back from getting supplies and saw a bunch of cop cars," day manager Ramee Shalabi said. "We had no idea he would be here, until 10 minutes ago."
11:40 a.m.: AJC photographer at the Varsity reports that Secret Service is setting up metal detectors and screening employees.
11:35 a.m.: Obama's motorcade departs from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
11:30 a.m.: After talking with Reed and other members of the delegation, Obama walks across tarmac at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to greet members of the media.
11:25 a.m.: Obama emerges from Air Force One and is greeted on the tarmac by a delegation led by Mayor Kasim Reed.
11:15 a.m.: Air Force One touches down at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
