A student at the University of North Georgia’s Gainesville campus has been diagnosed with tuberculosis, according to a media report.

An email to students Wednesday afternoon from school officials said the person, who was not identified, was being treated off-site for the infectious bacterial disease, the Gainesville Times reported.

In a separate email, students were told that a district office of the Georgia Department of Public Health will offer free screenings next week for anyone who came into contact with the infected person, the newspaper reported.
