Early details regarding phase three of Fuqua Development’s mixed-use project at North Decatur Road and Scott Boulevard were unveiled Wednesday before several neighborhood groups at the North Decatur United Methodist Church.

The new phase adds 260 more apartments to the 700 apartments included in the first two phases.

Plans also include 102 units of senior affordable living, a fast-food restaurant, a conventional grocery (the organic grocery Sprouts is included in phase one), and a five-story self-storage facility with conference room, possibly for a medical-related business.

It’ll be built on 9.2 acres along Scott, a long-abandoned Ford dealership site.

Bill Aiken, a project manager for Fuqua, said the company is currently demolishing 39 houses as part of phase two. The total project includes about 27 acres, and Aiken said residents should begin moving into phase one and two apartments sometime in 2017.

There is yet no timetable for phase three.

The development is outside Decatur boundaries, but has formerly been on the city’s annexation master plan.
