The Norcross City Council voted overwhelming this month to expand the city’s Downtown Development Authority area. The expansion covers all commercially zoned properties.

The development authority’s previous territory covered approximately 20 percent of all existing Norcross businesses in an area totaling about 400 acres. The new development authority territory covers an estimated 2,000 businesses.

Expansion of the area allows the DDA more interaction with the city’s economic development department to assist with all redevelopment projects and have a say in prioritization. Businesses can expect decreased project time frame limitations, improved possibility of city grant acquisitions and new programs , possible bonds and financing of redevelopment projects and assistance with new and existing opportunity zones.
