Citizens and business owners on and around Skin Alley in Norcross have expressed concern about vehicle speeds and heavy traffic. A secondary concern is parking along the buildings where prohibited by sign.

In May, Norcross police conducted a survey to gather speeds and vehicle counts on Skin Alley. An average of 5.2 cars per hour travel the road and speeds average approximately 18 mph, well within the existing 25 mph speed limit. Since May, Police Chief Bill Crogan has spent time visually monitoring Skin Alley. Based on his observations, the volume of foot traffic, narrowness of the street, short distance, side parking, and limited sight distance make the current speed too high for the safety of citizens and business employees.

Recommendations under consideration by the city council include making the street one-way from Holcomb Bridge to Jones St., placing speed breakers in two locations, reducing the speed limit from 25 mph to 10 mph, and adding no parking signs along the street.
