New tower improves Johns Creek emergency coverage

Johns Creek officials said their new public safety communications tower off Old Atlanta Road just inside Forsyth County has been activated and is filling in prior coverage gaps for city police officers and firefighters.

Johns Creek spokesman Doug Nurse said the 195-foot tower has made it possible for public safety people to communicate from inside buildings in the Shakerag community of northeast Johns Creek.

The city had been using a single Fulton County tower at Jones Bridge and Morton Roads. As part of a countywide public safety communications upgrade, Fulton replaced the gear on the Jones Creek tower and installed equipment on the new city tower.
