Atlanta’s Chief Operating Officer Dan Gordon announced Tuesday that Ria C. Aiken has been named director of emergency preparedness. In her role, Aiken will ensure that Atlanta has precautionary measures in place for potential disasters and will work with federal and state emergency management agency partners and community stakeholders. Aiken brings 18 years of environmental remediation, consulting and construction experience to the position.

“The city is pleased to have Ria C. Aiken as the director of emergency preparedness,” said Gordon. “Her appointment will ensure that Atlanta is both focused on emergency preparedness and equipped to work with other local organizations to deal with emergencies quickly and effectively.”
