Acting on two alcohol-related measures, the Milton City Council had first presentation of an ordinance update to allow earlier Sunday serving for establishments left out of last year’s “Brunch Bill” changes; and voted to award a license to a popular local music venue, Matilda’s.

The 2018 Brunch Bill, Senate Bill 17, moved the start of Sunday serving to 11 a.m. from 12:30 p.m. in cities that held successful referendums to approve the change.

“While we changed all the standard consumption-on-premises licenses, a couple of our unique licenses were not updated: BYOB and Farm Wineries,” Sarah LaDart, economic development manager, said in a report to the council.

The revised BYOB license would allow Sunday alcohol sales from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and the Farm Winery license, from 11 a.m. to midnight. Second reading will be June 3.

The council also approved a “Consumption on Premises — Bring Your Own Beverage” license for Matilda’s, 850 Hickory Flat Road. Matilda’s opened its Milton concert venue last fall.
