Milton on Jan. 19 officially closed on its $5 million purchase of the Milton Country Club, action that preserves nearly 140 acres as public open space, city officials announced.

As the property at 1785 Dinsmore Road transitions from private to public ownership, city staff will address short-term items until a formal community planning process is completed with residents, officials said.

“Park Temporarily Closed’ signs will be installed at each entry point to discourage people from walking the trails or the course, and staff will explore short- and long-term gating solutions to ensure the parking lot can be secured at night.

Staff also is looking at possible short-term options for the upcoming tennis and swim seasons. Milton police will continue patrolling the club and will step up patrols while the facilities are temporarily closed to the public. The Milton Fire Department will begin assessing the property and trails for any short-term safety needs.
