The Milton City Council has awarded a $617,805 contract to remove a bridge and construct a double-barrel culvert on Birmingham Road.

CMES Inc. submitted the lowest of three bids for the work, in the vicinity of 1500 Birmingham, according to a staff report to the council. A third party, BM&K P.C., will handle construction oversight.

According to the construction services agreement, a road closure with detour may not start until May 23, the road must be reopened to traffic on July 31 – “every effort will be made by (the) contractor to shorten this period” – and all work must be completed by Sept. 1.
