Kennesaw's City Council on Monday voted to hold a referendum in November on the sale of alcohol in stores on Sundays. Mayor Mark Matthews said he thinks it's important for voters to exercise their rights on Sunday sales and he's interested to see how citizens vote. Matthews said no issues were raised about the referendum during the meeting's public comment session. Gov. A former Air Force sergeant was sentenced to 15 years in prison for viewing minors engaged in sexually explicit acts via webcam while he was stationed in Italy, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Atlanta said.
Charle Caley, 49, of Warner Robins, had been court-martialed for related child pornography crimes. Authorities said that in late 2006 Caley began paying a Bremen woman who made her 4-year-old daughter, as she engaged in sex acts, available online to Caley. The mother pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography and is serving a federal prison term. BILL RANKIN

The state Board of Pardons and Paroles has reelected James Donald to serve as its chairman for another term, the board said Tuesday.
Donald, former commissioner of the Department of Corrections, was appointed to the board in January 2009 and first elected parole board chair last June. The board also reelected Albert Murray to continue serving as its vice chair.
Georgia's five-member board determines which prison inmates are ready to return to society.
“Georgia has a tough parole board," Donald said in a statement. "Our workforce is consistently working to meet our core mission of public safety. Those offenders who are granted parole after the Board makes an informed decision, are supervised effectively while they are given an opportunity to stay in their communities as productive citizens."
