Two Roswell men gave police a big assist in bringing criminal charges against them: They allegedly videotaped themselves breaking into vehicles, Channel 2 Action News reported.

"Are they going to brag about this to their buddies, or is it something for Facebook?” said Carmen Ramirez, who told Channel 2 that she interrupted the men trying to break into an SUV. “[You] never know what's going on in people's minds."

Ramirez said she had just gotten out of her own car in a parking lot off North Point Parkway in north Fulton County on a recent Friday evening when she heard a loud noise. Two men, she said, were trying to break into an SUV.

"As I was getting out, I heard this incredible banging sound like ‘Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!’ " Ramirez said. "I just walked up and I saw the guy whaling away at the [SUV’s] window with a hammer. … I said, ‘What are you guys doing?’ They took one look at me and hopped back into their car and took off."

The woman gave police a description of the vehicle and its tag number.

Police said they traced to car to a Roswell home, where they took Elipidio Puga and Kevin Cruz-Martinez, both 20, into custody.

Investigators said they went through the men’s belongings, including their cell phones, and discovered video of the two breaking into cars.

Puga and Cruz-Martinez were booked into Fulton County jail on May 26 on multiple charges including criminal conspiracy, attempting to commit a crime and possessing tools to commit a crime, according to jail records. Cruz-Martinez also was charged with giving a false name to police. They have since been released on bond to await trial.

"It's just amazing how some people think they can get away with things," Ramirez said.
