One of the fields at Alexander Park in McDonough was damaged earlier this month due to heavy rain combined with presence of large equipment placed on the field for a festival.

Representatives of the McDonough Youth Association complained to the City Council that the festival equipment, which was moved off the field by large trucks that increased the damage, should have been located on a paved surface in another area. Local teams preparing for regional tournaments would not be able to practice there. A city official stated that a company was contracted to begin repairing the field almost immediately after the storm and before the June 19 council meeting.

The new sod and repair work was estimated in the $3,500 to $5,500 range. The field should be usable two weeks after the work is complete.
