The Marietta Police Department is offering police headquarters at 240 Lemon St. as a safe place for online buyers to make sales transactions. If requested, police officers will also check items to make sure they aren’t stolen. The department has started the meet, screen, exchange program after 21-year-old James Jones Jr. was killed last week in Marietta while trying to buy an iPhone from sellers on Craigslist. Police Spokesman David Baldwin said no appointment is necessary to meet sellers at police headquarters.
