When a co-worker refused to date him, a northwest Georgia man took matters into his own hand. He handcuffed himself to the woman, police said.

Jason Earl Dean, 24, of Dalton, was arrested Wednesday and charged with false imprisonment, The Daily Citizen reported.

The 18-year-old victim, whose name was not released, was leaving the Taco Bell restaurant in Ringgold after her shift when Dean approached her, witnesses told police. As she tried to get into her car, Dean handcuffed his hand to hers, according to the report.

Dean released the woman after he was confronted by co-workers, who heard the victim screaming. Dean drove away before police officers arrived, but arrested two days later by Dalton State College police.

The woman told police Dean had been asking to date her for a month, but she declined and managers had changed her shift to separate her from him, the Chattanooga Times Fress Press reported. Dean had tried to impress the woman by telling her he was a volunteer firefighter, which was not true, the paper reported.

Dean previously worked at a Gilmer County fire station, but he never got his certification, Assistant Chief Ben Daniel told the newspaper. But he was fired after he was found installing a fire station radio in his car and putting red lights on top, Daniel said. No charges were filed.
