A would-be MARTA passenger became enraged and attacked a bus that wouldn't let him board Friday afternoon in Sandy Springs, police said.

The bus was in the turn lane to make a left turn from Roswell Road onto Hammond Drive, Sandy Springs police spokesman Lt. Steve Rose told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"The man walked up to the bus in the middle of the street and knocked on the door," Rose said. "But the bus driver wouldn't open the door."

Police say the man ran back to the sidewalk, but quickly returned.

"The guy found a brick, and he busted out three windows," Rose said.

During the course of the incident, there was an elderly patron who fell out of her seat, and subsequently was injured, MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

She was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, but her condition is unknown, Harris.

The damaged bus made the turn onto Hammond, and its driver pulled over to report the damage, police said.

A second MARTA bus stopped nearby, and the man boarded that bus, Rose said.

"An officer walked on the [second] bus and said, 'Who was involved in the incident on that other bus?'" Rose said. "The guy raised his hand ... no argument, and he was arrested."

Charges are pending against the man, but police have not identified him yet. MARTA police were investigating the incident.
